Bankwatch photo gallery Help
The Bankwatch photo gallery is a collection of more than 4000 photos from our activities over the last fifteen years, documenting the good, the bad, and the ugly from the world of international financial institutions operating in our region and abroad. The gallery is for public use, and images can be used according to the conditions assigned to them under each photo's copyright licensing. If you have questions, comments, feedback or suggestions about the gallery or its functionality, please consult this help section, or contact main AT bankwatch.org. What do the copyright terms mean?Bankwatch is using a system of copyright promoted by a US-based not-for-profit organization called Creative Commons. The goal of the copyright system is to make privately held works available to as wide a public audience as possible, without the hassle of having to seek an owners’ permission each and every time you want to use their work. The Creative Commons licenses that Bankwatch uses are explained below; and more information is available on the Creative Commons website. Attribution - You let others copy, distribute, display, and perform your copyrighted work - and derivative works based upon it - but only if they give credit the way you request. Noncommercial - You let others copy, distribute, display, and perform your work - and derivative works based upon it - but for noncommercial purposes only. No Derivative Works - You let others copy, distribute, display, and perform only verbatim copies of your work, not derivative works based upon it. Share Alike - You allow others to distribute derivative works only under a license identical to the license that governs your work. What is the “public” check box used for?Bankwatch currently hosts two photo galleries- one for public use, meaning ANYONE can access your photos, and a second, restricted gallery for registered users. By ticking the public check box in the upload form, your photos will be publicly available for all viewers; leaving it blank will allow only registered users to view the photo. To login into the gallery, enter the user name and password when prompted. What are “tags”?The tagging functionality of the Bankwatch gallery is one of its most important features. Tags are a quick way to search for images based on keywords that describe some aspect of the image- this can be refer to the actual content of the image itself, its title, or the description of what photo is all about. When uploading photos, it is helpful to be as descriptive as possible when tagging the photo. Use as many as relevant, considering different aspects of the photo- the who, what, where etc. There is an option to create new tags as well- but before doing so, have a look to see if a similar tag is already in the gallery. Having many similar tags is problematic, as search results will not be as strong with multiple tags for the same idea. For instance- if the tag “meeting” exists in the gallery, don’t create a new one called “meetings”. Why fill in descriptions for the photos?Descriptions are another way to increase the visibility and usability of your photos. It is one of the main ways for Photo gallery users to search for images, so be as descriptive as possible, again explaining the who, what, where, when and why. What is the maximum amount and size of photos you can upload at one time?Using the online forms, you can upload up to five photos at one time. As for size, a good rule of thumb is to limit the total file size of each photo to 2 MB- otherwise you may experience difficulties when uploading How do I upload more than five photos at a time?If you have a large amount (over 20) of photos you want uploaded to the gallery with identical information, please contact main AT bankwatch.org to arrange. How can I delete photos?Currently only the gallery administrator can delete photos- please contact main AT Bankwatch.org with requests to delete photos or make corrections. Include also a URL to the photo that you want edited. Other questions or comments not listed here?Feel free to contact main AT Bankwatch.org with your questions or comments |
