Sakhalin Environment Watch (SEW) was an independent, non-partisan, non-government organization whose mission was to protect the natural ecosystems of the Sakhalin region in Russia. SEW’s main goals were protecting and defending the environment and nature of the Sakhalin region, conducting public environment control, defending ecological rights and legal interests of citizens.
SEW had united people who are caring for and loving nature, people who understood its value and fragility, and were not indifferent to what was happening to it.
The environmental projects SEW was implementing aimed at protecting the remaining pristine wilderness areas and assisted with the restoration of damaged ecosystems.
Sakhalin Environmental Watch was closed down in 2023 and received Honorary member status within Bankwatch network.
