China is pushing for the Balkans, Bosnia launches a Chinese coal-fired power plant

The first fully private power plant in the Western Balkans has launched commercial supplies into the grid. The 300 MW coal-fired power plant, funded by China’s Development Bank, was put into operation on Tuesday. China thus strengthens its economic influence also in the Balkan energy sector. Changes in the power plant project, however, lead to doubts about the environmental impact of a new resource.
