La Fábrica Bonita

<< Back to Citizens' Observatory for Green Deal Financing.

La Fábrica Bonita is a collaboration agreement between Energía Bonita, the energy community of the island of La Palma (Canary Islands) and the Collettivo di Fabbrica, a workers’ cooperative in Italy, which is trying to transform a former car factory in Florence into a factory for electric cargo bikes and solar photovoltaic panels. The small story about energy and mutual support named La Fábrica Bonita, has been facilitated by ODG, a member of the Citizens’ Observatory for Green Deal Financing.

For two years now, the Collettivo di Fabbrica, a group of workers at GKN in Florence, an automotive components factory with 400 employees, has been fighting to prevent their dismissals. The aim of the Collettivo di Fabbrica is to promote an industrial restructuring plan from below in order to keep the jobs, but at the same time making them meaningful.

The agreement between the Energía Bonita energy community and the Collettivo di Fabbrica is a story of mutual support that helps to generate hope and can serve as an example to illustrate the projects that could be financed with public money and the change in the economy that we need to see.

See the news on the European Commission’s website. For more information, visit Energía Bonita and Collettivo di Fabbrica.
