Passionate about the transition to a low carbon energy future, Jana has have devoted her professional life to projects and initiatives that would make this transition a reality.  She has endorsed several roles – from project manager and coordinator, through communicator, leader and networker – in non-governmental organisations and associations who share the vision and values of CEE Bankwatch. At national level, in Slovakia, she worked with Energy Centre Bratislava and Friends of the Earth-CEPA. At European level, she has been working for 20 years with Energy Cities, the European association of cities in energy transition.

In 2008, Jana was at the birth of the Covenant of Mayors Europe initiative – the world’s largest cities’ movement for local climate and energy action – coordinated by Energy Cities and its partners. She  contributed to the enlargement of this initiative to the Central and Eastern Europe. Since the programming period 2007-2014, she was advocating for the earmarking of EU budget, and the Structural Funds in particular, for energy and climate projects and she was monitoring the energy and climate policies, funds and programmes implemented by International and national Financing Institutions (EIB, EBRD, KfW, Deutche Bank, etc.). She also coordinated the European City Facility, a financing mechanisms for local sustainable energy projects.
