NGO Bankwatch’s Anna Roggenbuck says the affair “shows a clear conflict of interest at the top management of the EIB, to which the Bank did not react.” She added: “The controversial project proposal was kept on the EIB’s public pipeline, publicly signalling the Bank’s ongoing appraisal process, even after the bank discovered its vice president joined the company during his cooling-off period, which was in breach of the bank’s internal rules.”
