Cineforum I ‘The hidden costs of the transition’

<< Back to Citizens' Observatory for Green Deal Financing.

Date: Saturday, 16 December 2023

On 16th December the Debt Observatory in Globalisation held a cineforum altogether with Resilience Earth and a water’s and human rights defender in Colombia and Argentina.

The aim was to discuss the impacts of the green and digital transition, in particular with regard to lithium mining in the high Andean salt flats, by watching the documentary “The Hidden Cost”. In the context of approaching European elections, another objective was to think about political proposals more aligned with a truly just transition, which takes into account people and the planet as a whole.

24 people participated in the event. In the dialogue with the public, interesting proposals for moving towards a just ecological transition emerged. Among the participants there were also political representatives of the region’s town councils.

More details on the event and how it was evaluated by the participants through the EU Survey on Justice, Rights and Values, that was sent after the session can be found in the detailed event description here.
