In our online discussion Bankwatch campaigners talked about plans for new coal in the Balkan region and contrast it with the bigger European picture on coal.
Over 6,000 MW of new coal are planned to be constructed in the Western Balkans alone over the next years. At the same time, these countries are aspiring to become members of a European Union whose climate objectives imply a phase out of coal and other fossil fuels over the upcoming decades.
