Spain closed the EU presidency with an agreement of the Council of Economic and Finance Ministers: the reform of EU fiscal rules.
In the context of approaching of the European elections, the Debt Observatory in Globalisation held on 5 February a debate around the reform of the European Union’s fiscal framework that could undermine the investments for climate action while security and defense spending is being increased and favored. The impacts of increased military spending by member states, analysed by the Delás Centre, were discussed, as well as what is needed to achieve a truly green and just transition.
14 people participated in the event. Following questions from the audience, connections were also sought between the numbers related to arms spending and the more human side of the consequences of wars, such as suffering.
