Citizen’s request to deny state guarantee for Sostanj lignite power plant loan
Advocacy letter | 26 March 2012
The director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies
is of Slovenian origin. He sent an open letter to the Slovenian parliament requesting to deny the state guarantee for a loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) for Unit 6 at the Sostanj lignite thermal power plant.
He argues that the parliament’s decision “will have significant effects, some irreversible, upon the world that today’s young people and future generations inherit”, making a strong case against fossil fuel based power generation, supported by an attached collaborative article Scientific Case for Avoiding Dangerous Climate Change to Protect Young People and Nature.
Theme: Energy & climate
Project: Sostanj lignite thermal power plant unit 6, Slovenia
