CSO comments on the IFC’s Social and Environmental Sustainability Policy, Performance Standards and Disclosure Policy

Nearly 100 civil society organizations from 38 countries are demanding that World Bank Group lending to private corporations be much more responsive to environmental and social concerns. The comments describe how the International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) lack of transparency and supervision, its failure to recognize human rights, and its inadequate climate change policies undermine the IFC’s ability to achieve its poverty alleviation mission.
