Report | 2 June 2023
In August 2016, Yerevan became the first city to join the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)’s Green Cities programme. To address pressing issues related to air quality, green spaces, energy, transport and waste management, the city finalised its Green City Action Plan (GCAP) in October 2017.
In 2023, the Armenian environmental organisation EcoLur, with support from the CEE Bankwatch Network, launched a campaign to inform the public about the implementation of the GCAPs for Yerevan and Gyumri. This report assesses the extent to which the actions, targets and objectives set out in Yerevan’s GCAP have been implemented and how this has affected the city’s environmental conditions.
