Civil society organisations from across the globe have signed a joint statement opposing a proposed new loan for the Oyu Tolgoi mine in Mongolia. The proposal blatantly ignores years of unresolved grievances, ongoing environmental damage, and the repeated objections of local herders to this problematic project.

The 37-strong coalition is calling on the International Finance Corporation and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to impose strict conditions.
