The publication outlines the European Investment Bank’s (EIB) transformation into the EU’s first public international financial institution to stop funding fossil fuels in both developed EU Member States and developing countries and significantly increasing investments in climate action and environmental sustainability through its 2021–2025 Climate Bank Roadmap. It also covers EIB’s climate financing prior to this period, climate action lending in selected EU Member States, financing the just transition in the EU and financing of climate objectives in urban areas as well as EIB’s role in the Modernisation Fund and lastly, presents recommendations for the EIB Group’s 2026–2030 Climate Bank Roadmap.
