Svaneti is my homeland

An initiative of Bankwatch.

Jemo Tsalani

“I think it’s necessary to introduce this place to more people.”

Jemo in his school-graduation shirt filled with classmates' and teacher's wishes

Jemo Tsalani is Inga’s second son. He is studying to become a wood carpenter. Jemo’s own works decorate the house in which he lives with his father, his mother and his little brother. He wants to stay in Svaneti but he is aware that the region needs changes for young people to stay in it. “It would be great if the government built some college where youth could learn such crafts. The youth would learn it with pleasure and would be more motivated.”

Jemo is a wood carpentry student from Etseri.

Svaneti is threatened by massive hydropower developments

We are trying to prevent that and preserve the regions unique way of life.
