Svaneti is my homeland

An initiative of Bankwatch.

Miranda Aphrasidze

“I want children to have more opportunities.”

Miranda is surrounded by children (her students)

“It’s a pleasure to live here and I don’t want to move to the city again.” Miranda chases foxes when they eat her chickens. Miranda prepares spaghetti for her Turkish guests when needed. Miranda is a journalist, but also a teacher. Miranda is everything that keeps her close to nature, culture and people in Svaneti.

“Currently, I am working in the Mazeri public school as a teacher of Georgian language and literature. Working with children is very interesting; I feel how they love me. It gives me energy to be here and live here. I love everything here, I love nature.”

Miranda is a teacher in Mazeri. She lives in Becho.

Svaneti is threatened by massive hydropower developments
