With over 7,300 projects across three continents, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) plays a crucial role in sustainable development. Active in 36 countries and expanding into Sub-Saharan Africa, the EBRD operates in regions where environmental and social risk management is often weak, regulatory oversight is limited, and civic space is restricted. To ensure its investments benefit communities and the environment without causing harm, the EBRD must enforce stronger safeguards.
