Briefing for the EIB Board of Directors

Briefing    |    17 October 2025

Download

Ahead of the European Investment Bank’s (EIB) annual Board Seminar with Civil Society, this briefing urges the Bank to demonstrate genuine dialogue and accountability to match its global ambitions. Despite the growing role of EIB Global under the EU’s Global Gateway, with nearly EUR 8 billion committed outside the EU in 2024, the ongoing update of its Strategic Roadmap is taking place without stakeholder consultation. Civil society organisations are calling on the EIB to open a structured and inclusive consultation process in the countries in which it operates, and to reaffirm its commitment to genuine partnership, transparency and sustainable development.
