On both sides of the main road to Mestia there are many unknown villages. Full of history, pristine nature, architectonic interest and authentic traditions, they are struggling for their future. “Young people leave villages as they don’t see any perspective and generally their future in the village”, explains Eka.

Eka owns a small travel agency. She would like to develop sustainable tourism in Pari. Nature and ecotourism are part of her expectations of the development of Svaneti: “We have various training and seminars to teach young people how to write projects; how to solve environmental problems.”

Eka is a teacher, founder of SvanTravel Agency and the youth group ‘Let’s strengthen rural youth‘ in Pari.

Svaneti is threatened by massive hydropower developments

We are trying to prevent that and preserve the regions unique way of life.
