‘We are not going to live without Svaneti. We grew up in the mountains, we are children of the mountains.’

For 150 years Keto Dadeshkeliani’s homestead farm in Lekulmakhe has been home to seven generations.  Now the property is to give way to the dam power house. The family would lose the land and get resettled. “We cannot leave Svaneti. We are children of the mountains and we can’t live without them. It’s a law” says Keto.

Keto works as a nurse at the small hospital in Chuberi. “We are a large family!” she explains. With her income and the emblements of the land, she raises four children.

Keto is a nurse from Chuberi.
