Svaneti is my homeland

An initiative of Bankwatch.

Chuberi

At least 10 kilometres upstream the Nenskra River there are still settlements that live from the abundance of the river shores.

The entrance to Chuberi is just after the first bridge of the Enguri River where the Nenskra River joins it. The art teacher of Chuberi’s school has made a sign for the village with drawings of the important monuments in the community: the school, the church, the hospital and the shores of the Nenskra River.

‘Our ancestors moved here because of the river. We can’t live without the river’, she explains.
