“What can we do?! Life in Svaneti is not good, but we still love Svaneti and live here… whether we want or not.”

A woman looking into the camera is standing on a field with mountains in the background.

One of the things that is not lacking in Svaneti is the company of people. You rarely feel alone. People are used to live around their loved ones, their neighbours and their community. For Margarita Pharjiani life in Svaneti is hard, but in her words: “what can we do?! Life in Svaneti is not good, but we still love Svaneti and live here… whether we want it or not.”

Margarita is a farmer from Latali.

Svaneti is threatened by massive hydropower developments

We are trying to prevent that and preserve the regions unique way of life.
