Svaneti is my homeland

An initiative of Bankwatch.
Photos by Rosa Vroom.

Khaishi

Up in the Khaishi village, there is a lively school with students from all the nearby settlements, an active monastery and many locals living from their pastures, forests and gardens.

Khaishi looks mainly like a commercial centre. On the main street there are all kinds of stores displaying imported products mixed with local honey bottles for tourists.

But not everything is about commerce in Khaishi. Up in the village, there is a lively school with students from all the nearby settlements, an active monastery and many locals living from their pastures, forests and gardens.

The roofs of houses are almost invisible in the thick greenery.
