Mestia

Mestia is and has been the historical starting point for alpine climbers and adventurers who have explored Svaneti’s peaks of over 5000 meters.

There is only one paved road that leads to Svaneti and it is the road to Mestia.

Mestia is and has been the historical starting point for alpine climbers and adventurers who have explored Svaneti’s peaks of over 5000 meters. It has an airport connected to Tbilisi and tourism is the main economic activity for mountain guides, waiters, cooks, drivers, bakers or souvenir sellers.
