Besides her role as a national campaigner for biodiversity & finance at CEE Bankwatch, Kristīne works at the Latvian NGO Green Liberty, focusing on biodiversity, land use, climate change & the renewables nexus related issues. She also works in a project at the University of Latvia, focusing on climate change mitigation and adaptation measures for the LULUCF sector as well as the evaluation of GHG emissions accounting methodologies and reporting. Kristīne also has experience coordinating environmental education activities at the Foundation for Environmental Education Latvia.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from the University of Latvia, with her thesis centred on urban nature-based solutions and ecosystem services, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree. While at the university, she was involved in the FORTHEM European University Alliance by helping develop sustainability guidelines for the alliance and organising educational activities on climate change.
Moreover, Kristīne has a background in climate and animal rights activism, and is interested in interdisciplinary approaches, critical perspectives, community building and organising.
